Who we are
Lumen Dental Studio Ltd, 12 Wimpole Street, Marylebone, London W1G 9SR — a CQC-registered dental practice. For data protection purposes we are the controller of the information you give us, and we are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
What we collect
Contact details you give us (name, phone, email); clinical records we are required to keep (examinations, radiographs, scans, photographs, treatment notes, medical histories); and appointment and payment records. Clinical photographs are only ever published with your separate written consent.
Why we hold it
To provide safe dental care (our legitimate and legal basis under UK GDPR Articles 6 and 9 for health data); to meet our obligations to the General Dental Council and Care Quality Commission; and to contact you about your own appointments and treatment. We do not buy lists, sell data, or add you to marketing sequences.
How long we keep it
Adult clinical records are retained for at least 11 years after your last treatment, in line with NHS and defence-organisation guidance — this is a professional requirement, not a preference. Simple enquiry details that never become clinical records are deleted within 12 months.
Who ever sees it
Your treating clinicians and our reception team; our dental laboratory (first names and shade photographs only, where needed); referral specialists you have agreed to; and our insurers or regulators where the law requires. All processors work under written agreements.
Your rights
You may request a copy of your records, correction of inaccuracies, or deletion where the law allows (clinical retention rules mean some records must stay). Write to studio@lumendental.co.uk — we answer within one month. If we ever disappoint you, you can complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk.
